**** The 4specs Perspective
Getting specified and holding the spec is a complicated process with many players involved. One of the best ways to understand the process is to understand the materials in the Construction Specification Institute's Construction Document Technical (CDT) program. Here is information about the CSI CDT program:

It is not necessary to take the test to learn more about how to get specified. One great way to get started is Phil Kabza's CDT One Day at a Time email series. This is a free program with an email every day to subscribers. Every manufacturer should require their reps and inside sales support people to subscribe to Phil Kabza's email program and understand the materials.

Our series of newsletters on "Getting Specified" is another great way to learn more:

For your reps that have passed the CDT certification, the next step is the Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR) program:
https://www.csiresources.org/certification/ccpr
This certification has not had a CSI-sponsored study group to support CDT certificate holders from the manufacturing community that want to move to the next level. This program will be virtual in nature and open to all people across the USA and Canada.
